2026 Professional Development Grant

Purpose:

The Eastern Vascular Society (EVS) is committed to supporting the Career Development of its members. The goal of the Society is to help its members reach positions of leadership at institutional, local, regional, and national levels.

To this end, the EVS Career Development Grant, in collaboration with industry, are offering a grant for surgeons desiring to develop or improve their leadership skills.

Three awards of $5,000 each will be provided to three EVS Active Members. These awards can be used for travel, hotel accommodations, and registration expenses to attend specific courses and/or other leadership training and development opportunities and activities.

Grant eligibility criteria:

• Three grants will be issued at $5,000 each. All grant awardees will be asked to present their grant-related work next year at the EVS 40th Annual Meeting, 2027. This will require in-person attendance at the 2026 meeting to receive the grant.
• To apply, you must be an Active EVS Member in good standing.
• Applications that clearly outline how the grant will advance the career goals of the candidate are given preference.
• Applicant must be at or within the last year of their training (Fellowship or Vascular Residency) and/or must be within 0-10 years in practice.

Application and Reporting Requirements:

1. Demographic Information
   Submit a complete online application providing demographic information such as EVS member status, years out of training, professional appointment title, etc. Personally identifying information such as age, race, and ethnicity will be optional.
2. Statement of Intent
   Provide a statement of intent (maximum 600 words) that indicates how you would use the award to advance personal leadership training and specific career goals. The statement should describe how the grant will be appropriated as well as the applicants personal goals in detail
3. Budget Sheet
   Provide a summary of projected expenses including travel, registration, administrative fees, research material, etc. that the grant will be use to cover.

5. Letters of Recommendation
   Submit two letters of recommendation. One must be from the Chief of Division, Chief of the Department, or Chief of Staff. One must be from an Active EVS Member in good standing.
6. Provide institution representative information for where award funds will be sent (if applicable). Please note if grant funds are sent directly to the grant recipient it is considered taxable income. A W9 must be filed at the end of the program year.

Recipient’s Report to Committee:

The Grant Program must be completed within 12 months of receipt.

Within 60 days of completing the Grant Program, the recipient will prepare and forward a report to the EVS Vascular For All Committee. The report should summarize activities during the grant period and goals achieved.

All of the awardees will be asked to give a short presentation  in person on their learning accomplishments during the EVS Annual Meeting, once their award year has completed.

Any publication related to this activity should acknowledge the Eastern Vascular Society and industry sponsor.
